What is Color Psychology?
Color psychology is the method of expressing people’s interests, preferences, and attitudes through color. As a result, color is one of the most important elements of graphic design. Everything is expressed through design and color.
A good graphic designer can change the look of a company or a brand through color. Each color carries a different meaning. Each color may vary from area to area. Generally speaking, yellow is associated with cheerfulness and cheer, but in Chinese culture, it can connote vulgarity or adulthood. Users often use white as a symbol of purity and to brand bridal gowns, but white has mourning connotations in Japan, India, China, Korea, and the Middle East.
What meaning does each different color have?
Black color Its positive side is magic, Halloween, power, fashion, elegance, mystery, wealth, and formality. The negative side is death, evil, intimidation, mourning, control, bad luck, and the occult.
White color Its positive side is the transmission of purity, light, goodness, cleanliness, and perfection. And, on the other hand, you have negative feelings such as coldness, emptiness, or low vitality.
Yellow color creates a good motivation and a feeling of well-being. The color yellow conveys positive feelings like optimism, joy, intelligence, happiness and strength. Although it has a negative connotation.
Blue is an inspiring color. It brings a sense of calmness and serenity. It inspires relaxation, confidence, success, depth, loyalty and professionalism. It is a color with more success among consumers and is widely used in many brands.
Orange color inspires energy, inspiration, motivation and confidence. When we think of it as an orange vitamin, it helps our body regain energy. Hence it is considered as a source of energy
Red color is used in several steps. Positive as: passion, strong emotions, love, confidence, comfort, warmth. Negative as: danger, anger, violence, fire, war. In combination with white, for a elegant look.
Gold color means durability is strong. It conveys values such as power, luxury, money or abundance. It is widely used in jewelry advertising campaigns. Money and luxury are expressed by gold color
Green is basically nature, growth, health, new beginnings, money, renewal, calm, abundance, tranquility, fertility, good luck, harmony, and balance. Despite this, it represents friendship, freshness, respect, life, and health.
Because of color, graphic design takes a lot more time than choosing a color combination that looks good. Getting the perfection of a design with many colors.
